Parents need to know that Sherlock is an excellent adaptation of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle series thats littered with dead bodies, but little actual onscreen violence. Now for those fans of Holmes I just say this if you do read this book be prepared to have intense urges to grab up your copy of Sherlock Holmes and read it again. Axler doesn't accuse Holmes of that it is just a problem of how he reaches the end results. A Sherlock Holmes Tale That’s Hardly Elementary Graham Moore’s novel crosscuts a murder mystery and hunt for the diary of Arthur Conan Doyle with the actions of Conan Doyle himself. None of that aha moment stuff when at the end of the story some vital piece of information is suddenly revealed. As my Literature professor in college pointed out to me about what makes good detective fiction is presenting all the clues to the reader. Elementary, my dear Watson, as Sherlock Holmes was wont to say. The one thing I got from this book was Holmes was human and he could make an error in judgment, but that is all. It just made Sherlock Holmes shout loudersomething Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes would never do. Now that shes recovered, theyre ready to return to the 11th and settled into a platonic life partnership. But in the end, Sherlock wasn't interested in being a voice of reason in a noisy, inflammatory time. But as I read it became apparent that Noah Axler wasn't really trying to prove Holmes wrong just that he did make a mistake or two along the way. Sherlock helped Joan through chemotherapy, and presumably helped her parent her son. That's not something that was said much about the BBC's much-hyped Sherlock, starring. I wasn't sure how I would feel about someone proving my favorite detective was wrong in some of his cases. Elementary, now into its second series, having launched on CBS in 2012, is rather good and often great. Who is the most famous fictional detective to have roamed the streets of London Join Wendy as she learns about Sherlock Holmes. ![]()
